Project Summary:

The Health Professions Partnership Initiative (HPPI) helped minority youth pursue a higher education and enter the health professions. Part of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s national initiative to increase diversity in the health professions, HPPI worked with African-American and Latino youth in middle and high schools in Oakland, California. It provided mentoring, after-school activities, field trips, and training to motivate and support young students. Local colleges and universities worked closely with HPPI, and older teens, college students, and adults mentored and tutored the students.
