Health Care Access

Improving access to health care is one of the most important challenges we face. As part of our mission to reduce health disparities, Health Research for Action has developed a range of policy-level interventions:

• We work with the State of California to change regulations that determine how to explain key protections in California law to HMO members.
• We develop consumer tools, including a statewide template for a guide to coverage for HMO members.
• We work with policymakers and other stakeholders to improve transitional care for seniors.
• We conduct trainings and consultations with HMOs, medical groups, advocacy groups, and state agencies to improve the readability and usability of HMO member materials.
