Kentucky Guide for Families

Project Summary:

"The Kentucky Guide for Families" is a research-based, user-friendly resource for parents. It is based on a model that has shown effectiveness in reaching parents of all income levels and many ethnicities. The guide is based on best practices in health communication and health literacy. It was available in English and Spanish, and was distributed to new parents throughout Kentucky by the Kids Now initiative.

The guide is organized developmentally, so that parents can quickly find the information that is relevant to their child’s age, from birth to five years. It covers pregnancy, birth, child development, choosing childcare, and health and safety issues. Parents are linked to local resources, websites, and toll-free phone numbers where they can find more information or assistance.
